Camping Extravaganza!

Yeah!!!! At the end of June Jeff and I just randomly decided to go camping. It was a Thursday night late and we left Friday when he was off work. We didn't even go the store to buy food! We took what was in our fridge and had a grand feast every day. ;)
Turns out we had a lot of stuff to bring... good thing the Sub (Subaru) is a champ!
Night one was all sorts of rainy! Surprise for WA right? We decided to just start driving and see where we'd end up. Along the way Jeff maybe got a speeding ticket in this small podunk town! (haha no idea how that's really spelled) He was not a happy camper. Ha! Literally. Jeff is not a speeder and so for him to get a ticket rounding a corner into a town just did not seem fair. The cop was parked and waiting for us. No mercy.

But we kept on trekkin' and about 2.5 hrs. of a drive we made it to Grays Harbor campsite. Apparently it was Pirate Days there! Turns out we came on the one weekend in the year that all people are dressed like pirates! We camped in an RV park and people had their campers decked out with pirate garb. It was awesome.

Somehow we managed to light a fire in the rain and cook our tin dins and pork and beans! Yummo! (It doesn't look good, but think of campfire food. Yep.)

Jeff is famous for wearing a headlamp/bringing it always. I used to laugh at it but then realized it's a really great thing to have. And then met his Dad, Larry, and realized the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree!

Grays Harbor Lighthouse: Tallest lighthouse in the state of Washington! Woot Woot! In our random adventuring we happened upon Pirate Days and the tallest WA lighthouse.... Great news! And also Grays Harbor just happened to be where Kirt Cobain grew up. Haha they had a whole map of places he lived, jammed at, hung out, etc. Oh the things you can find!

Lighthouse lookout view. All this land used to be ocean. Crazy!

So this is how the lenses used to be made. Shipped over from Eurpoe in totes of mollasses! They hadn't discovered packing peanuts yet. ;)

Now we just have this cute little thing that takes place of that ginormous lens. It still gets the job done!

These are the stairs the lighthouse worker has to go up numerous times a day! Sheesh! Say goodbye to Gold's Gym!
Here is the beautiful coast just a little bit away from the lighthouse! Um... I love it!!! I collected so many sand dollars and used them for a craft project at my work!

We trucked on up the coast a little more and found this little gem of a trail that lead to the water.

WOW.

 Don't laugh at this movie...

Um.... can you say, "bloom where you are planted!"

Don't worry, the tree is just engulfing me!
We continued on and found a sign that said "Biggest Cedar Tree Turn Right". So, we obeyed and found where the Keebler elfs make all their delicious fudge cookies!!!

This is my favorite thing about WA trees... MOSS! I call them Grinch Trees. (Do those branches not look like the Grinch's arms?) So, this was our second campsite area. We had an adorable stream in the back and it stopped raining!!!!

Yummy breakfast!!! Pancakes, WHIPPED CREAM, bacon, and eggs! Yep- beat that Wheaties!

And... then we drove through Forks to get home the next morning. We counted like 20 Twilght references just on main street. Haha loved it! Fun camping trip!!!
